What is Spot Welding?

Spot welding (or electric resistance spot welding) involves joining two metal wire components by heating the metal at the contact surfaces.

A high-amperage electric current (up to 15,000 A) is passed through the materials for a very short duration—just fractions of a second—causing the metal (typically low-carbon steel, stainless steel, or iron) to heat up near its melting point. As metal cools, it solidifies, effectively welding the two pieces together.

What are the advantages of Spot Welding?

Spot welding produces clean, well-defined weld points of higher aesthetic quality, as no external filler material is required.

Bonpez’s machine fleet also allows for spot welding on parts ranging from small to medium-large batches. This method offers greater production flexibility and machine set-up times are optimised, ranging from 15 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours.
